BONGS are identified mostly with Durga Puja fest and fish.  When a Bengali steps out his native State and lands in another State, he or she will invariably try to ascertain from a known person about the availability of his or her favourite staple food and the autumn carnival. Produced by Sony Pictures Networks and Joy B the just released Bangla Movie MAACHER JHOL meaning fish curry is indeed a heart-warming tale involving a Master Chef who has made name and earned tonnes of money cooking the typical Bengali delicious food overseas over the years and his ailing mother. The movie can be recommended for viewing by all non-vegetarian foodies. The chef, popular for attracting foreign clientale by offering the mouth watering delicacy, is back after 13 years in Kolkata, the cosmopolitican city mirroring India’s centuries old concept of unity in diversity. But he could not forget his affectionate mother and that is why has to get back at the cost of his blooming career and displeasing the people who frequent the eating place in Paris where he cooks for them the delicacy . Ritwick Chakravarty, popular TV and screen actor, playing Dev D, the Paris-based Chef, is haunted by his past and associations particularly with Sreela played by Tollywood’s popular heroine Paoli Dam. His ailing mother is Mamata Shankar, yesteryear heartthrob and noted dancer from Uday Shankar Gharana. He finds it arduous task to come to terms with Sreela besides a cooking challenge that will change his life forever.

Rightly claims the Director that any person whether he or she is non-vegetarian or vegetarian growing up in Bengal would know the significance of fish curry and why the Bengalis are sentimental about it.  MAACHER Jhol is a must for hosting guests fond of no-vegetarian food in Bengali households. Fish curry is a gastronomic delight. It is written & directed by Pratim D. Gupta with music and lyrics by Anupam Roy.It may be recalled his last release ‘Saheb Bibi Golaam’ had astounded the entire Bengali film industry. His latest release ‘Maacher Jhol’ has also impressed all the bigwigs in Tollywood because of its unique and fresh flavour. From Srijit Mukherjee to Kaushik Ganguly to Parno Mittra all are impressed by the taste and flavour of Pratim’s ‘Maacher Jhol’. They took to their Twitter handles to appreciate the film starring Ritwick Chakraborty, Paoli Dam, Sauraseni Maitra, Mamata Shankar  and Arjun Chakraborty. Srijit Mukherji opined on Twitter. Anyway, the end to end Bangla feature film connects Bangla speaking people across the world that prize their traditional fish curry and part of their cultural heritage irrespective several dialects and religious faiths.
