RAJPUT community  continued  to protest on Monday against  Sanjay Leela Bhansali  directed  Hindi film  on  Padmavati , the 14th  century  queen of Rajputana, in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Mumbai and other places alleging  the  movie has  distorted  historical facts. They were demanding banning the movie. Several persons representing  a Rajput community outfit  were taken into custody while protesting outside  Bhansali’s office in Mumbai’s  suburban Juhu .The trailer on the movie in which Bollywood’s  seasoned actress Deepika Padukone plays the matchless beauty has angered the community.  Bhansali has been provided personal security by the Mumbai Police .The film makers have come forward pledging him support .The film is scheduled to hit the screen on December 1 across India. The noted award winning film director reiterates that the legendary queen has not been shown in a bad light.  Besides Deepika as Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor plays the role of her spouse Raja Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh portrays the role of the then ruler of Delhi Alauddin Khilji who invaded Chittorgarh to posess Padmini as his consort. But the queen and other royal ladies jumped into a fire to save their honour around 1303.Bhansali was earlier assaulted by activists of a Rajput community group, the Karni Sena, during the shooting of the film in Jaipur in January. The outfit’s sole demand in banning the movie claiming it “distorts” history.In Noida on the outskirts of Delhi, several outfits protested against the film and appealed to people not to watch the movie. The Rajputana Vikas Sanghthan and the Veer Kunwar Singh Shodh Sanghthan  have submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate demanding banning the film.The Rajputana Vikas Sanghthan tore posters of the film in front of a Sector 38 mall and a Sector 18 cinema  and at the Sector 25, its members raised slogans against the movie.The outfit’s president S P Chauhan said that his community will not tolerate any “misleading” views on Rani Padmavati.The Veer Kunwar Singh Shodh Sangthan burnt the effigy of Bhansali and demanded .Its president Thakur Man Singh said that Maharani Padmavati was respected by Hindus and alleged that the film had distorted facts.The Hindu Jan Jagriti Manch and the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Maha Sangh also protested against the movie.”We will not allow release of the movie in and around Jamshedpur,” said Samresh Singh, President of the youth wing of the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha (ABKM).The organisation would also urge the state government to ban the movie.”The glorious history of the country has been distorted in the movie which will not be tolerated,” Singh said after a meeting of the organisation. Meanwhile, Ashoke Pandit , heading the Indian Film and Television Directors ’ Association , says  : “Nobody has seen the film, yet people are making assumptions and attacking and abusing Bhansali. Similar controversy happened around Indu Sarkar. What will we do? We can’t make films to suit everyone’s ego. If someone doesn’t want to watch the film, don’t watch it. If someone doesn’t want it to release, go to court.” The Supreme Court and the Allahabad have rejected plea to stop the release of Padmavati.The association along with such organisation will appeal to Minister for Information & Broadcasting to ensure that artistic freedom was safeguarded , Pandit added.
