AS West Bengal Government and the Gorkha agitators fault each other for the unrest in Darjeeling over Gorkhaland issue, Calcutta High Court has directed the Centre and the State government to provide additional forces to restore normalcy in the disturbed hill station. The High Court on Friday asked the Centre to deploy four additional companies of CRPF within 48 hours in Darjeeling to quell violence in the hills. A Division Bench of the HC comprising acting Chief Justice Nishita Mhatre and Justice T Chakraborty directed the Centre to provide the forces from the CRPF in addition to the 11 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) already deployed in Darjeeling. The bench has repeatedly expressed concern over the sufferings of the people in the stir-hit Darjeeling hills amid the ongoing tussle over replacement of forces, sought by the state for ‘operational reasons. ‘The Centre responding to the State’s request for replacement of three Mahila companies of CRPF said through an affidavit that the women members of the force could not be discriminated against. The Centre informed the HC that the State Government’s request for replacing three companies of SSB from the restive Darjeeling hills was not a cogent reason since The SSB companies worked without impartially .The HC heard The Advocate General for The West Bengal Government and The Additional Solicitor General for the Centre before issuing the Order. Out of the 11 companies of CAPF, there are three from SSB, three Mahila CRPF companies and the rest are CRPF companies comprising men.Meanwhile in Delhi, Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, also a Rajya Sabha Member from Bengal, has batted for tripartite dialogue between the GJM, The Central and State Governments saying the GTA was created by the three parties in 2012 .Gorkhaland Issue should be resolved through talks. The agitators have declined to sit across the table with CM Mamata Banerjee calling her fascist or her any proxy complicating the issue. On Thursday, a police vehicle escorting Tourism Minister Gautam Deb was reportedly attacked by the agitated Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) supporters at Panighata near Siliguri.
The attack took place when the minister was on his way to attend a public meeting. It is alleged number of Morcha supporters tried to torch the Police jeep, pelted stones at the policemen and also attacked the Panighata police station. In the absence of internet, other communication and transport facilities ebangla. in like other media houses are constrained to   update  stories from Bengal’s disturbed hills on daily basis.
