PM Modi Reacted Violently After Rahul Gandhi Calling GST Gabbar Singh Tax

PRIME Minister Narendra Modi  has  lashed out at Congress Vice President  Rahul Gandhi for lampooning  GST  as ‘Gabbar Singh Tax’ saying  the party which  had looted  the nation for several decades cannot forget the dacoit  called Gabbar Singh in a  Bollywood movie.  They could only think of dacoits, PM Modi added while addressing an election rally at Morbi town for the ongoing Gujarat Assembly election. Rebutting Gandhi’s repeated criticism of the Goods and Services Tax, a key economic reform of the NDA government, Modi said a recently emerged “economist” was propagating a “grand stupid thought” by suggesting that GST rate be capped at 18 per cent. Modi mentioned about several development works done by the BJP government for 22 years in the Western State. Among these are water conservation, agriculture and development of the Saurashtra region. “When we remember Mahatma Gandhi, Lord Buddha, Sardar Patel, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and pay homage to them, Congress remembers dreaded dacoit Gabbar Singh. What more can I say about their thought process” PM Modi said. Congress was trying to take credit for minor schemes, like providing hand-pumps forgetting that the BJP rule brought in major works like the Narmada project. He appealed to the people to vote for the BJP in this Patidar community stronghold, Modi said his party should not be voted out for 100 years. He urged the people not to be misled by neo economist with obvious reference to Rahul Gandhi.“Those who have looted people throughout their life, they can only remember dacoits,” Modi said in a reply to Gandhi’s ‘Gabbar Singh Tax’ jibe, recalling the iconic villain from the Bollywood blockbuster “Sholay”.Rahul was propagating a ‘grand stupid thought’ promising people that his party will slash all tax rates and make it 18 per cent. He proposed 18 per cent tax on salt and 18 per cent tax on luxury cars costing Rs 5 crore, PM Modi said.“What kind of smartness is this… how such an economist has emerged here? You want to make goods used by the poor like clothes, footwear and food costlier and you want to make cigarettes and liquor cheaper,” he said, ripping into the “anti poor” Congress over its criticism of the tax reform. The Prime Minister said that making cigarettes cheaper will promote cancer all over the country .Rahul also proposed to make liquor cheaper bringing miseries to millions of people, PM said. Recalling the Macchu Dam flood mishap of 1979 in Morbi, Modi said he had spent one month working in the town after the disaster as an RSS and Jan Sangh worker.“I remember then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had visited the place .Chitralekha, a local language magazine, had printed her photo with a handkerchief over her nose, trying to avoid the stench. Another photo on the same front page had RSS workers carrying dead bodies, PM Modi added.“Those who have helped us in times of difficulties should be remembered,” he added. The BJP has initiated the SAUNI scheme, The Narmada Water Project for Saurashtra Region, for filling dams of Saurashtra through huge pipelines. The culture of this parched land was to give respect to those who have tried to do something to provide water.
