MANUSHI Chhillar, 20, from India’s north –western State Haryana neighbouring Delhi has lifted the coveted Miss World Crown triumphing over contestants from 107 nations. She  has won the title 17 years after Priyanka Chopra, now a celebrity in the cine world, won Miss World title in 2000 after Aishwaryaa Rai Bachchan, Bollywood’s seasoned actress, who had won it in 1994. Incidentally, Priyanka Chopra’s parental ancestors were from undivided Punjab before Haryana was carved out as a separate State. Miss England and Miss Mexico were declared first and second runners up beauty pageant held in Sanya in China’s Hainan province on Saturday.  Chhillar was asked during the Question and Answer round, which profession she thought deserved the highest salary and why. She  said it was not a question about a person’s salary and that a mother was worthy of the highest respect.”I think a mother is of highest respect. I don’t think it’s just about cash but love and respect she gives to someone. She is the biggest inspiration in my life. Mother should get highest respect.” “All mothers sacrifice so much for their kids. So, I think it is the job of a mother that deserves the highest salary,” Chhillar said drawing wide applause from those assembled for the event. Manushi r was born to doctor parents from Haryana. . Apart from the title, Chillar also won the Beauty with Purpose Award.Chillar had earlier this year won the Femina Miss India 2017.Chhillar is the sixth Indian to win the fabled title which was first won by Reita Faria in 1966. Aishwarya Rai had bagged the title in 1994, followed by Diana Haydon in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999 and Priyanka Chopra in 2000, the last for India. According to her profile dished out to media, Manush   studied in St. Thomas School in New Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat. She intends to be a cardiac surgeon and has plans of opening non-profit hospitals in rural areas. she is a trained classical dancer and has a passion for outdoor sports like scuba diving, snorkelling and bungee jumping.
